Southbound I-5 Closed Near Medford Viaduct After Crash

MEDFORD, Ore. (Jun 5, 2026)— Southbound Interstate 5 is closed south of Exit 30 following a crash on the Medford viaduct, transportation officials said Friday.

The closure is in effect at milepost 29 near the I-5 Medford viaduct, where authorities reported a collision that prompted an immediate shutdown of all southbound lanes.

Officials warned the closure may be extended as crews respond and work to clear the scene and investigate the crash.

Motorists are being urged to use alternate routes and expect significant delays in the area until the roadway is reopened.

No further details about the crash or any possible injuries were immediately available.

7:20P UPDATE: Congestion is significant in the area, as southbound I-5 traffic is backing up past Exit 33. Also, the southbound I-5 on-ramp off westbound OR-62 is at a standstill. Can use OR-99 south as detour.
