PORTLAND, Ore. (Apr. 20, 2026) — A Portland firefighter was booked into jail Monday following a months-long criminal investigation into the alleged upload and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a report from an online platform and forwarded it to authorities. On Aug. 26, 2025, the Portland Police Bureau’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit reviewed the report, which detailed illegal content uploads.
Detectives identified multiple related accounts and traced associated internet activity to a Portland fire station, where the material was allegedly uploaded. Through further investigation, authorities identified Portland Fire & Rescue firefighter Andrew J. Ligatich, 43, as the individual connected to the accounts.
On Monday, Ligatich turned himself in and was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.
He faces three counts of encouraging child sexual abuse in the first degree and two counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct.
Authorities have not released additional details about the investigation.
All suspects are believed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
