MEDFORD, Ore. (Apr. 17, 2026) — Drivers traveling on Interstate 5 in the Medford and Central Point areas should expect overnight lane and ramp closures next week as crews with the Oregon Department of Transportation conduct pavement repairs.
Work is scheduled between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. to minimize impacts on daytime traffic.
Beginning Sunday evening, April 19, crews will repair pavement in both the northbound and southbound lanes near Exit 35, north of Central Point. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and the northbound on-ramp from Blackwell Road/OR 140 will be closed. Motorists seeking to access Interstate 5 are advised to use alternate routes to Exit 33 in Central Point or Exit 40 in Gold Hill. That phase of work is expected to wrap up by Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday evening, April 21, construction will shift to the northbound lanes near Exit 27 in Medford. Traffic will again be limited to a single lane, and the northbound off-ramp at Exit 27, which serves Garfield Street and Highland Drive, will be closed. Drivers needing that exit should continue north to Exit 30 and then return southbound to Exit 27. Work in this area is expected to be completed by Thursday morning.
Transportation officials urge drivers to use caution in work zones, watch for workers and equipment, and reduce speeds. Short delays are possible, and the schedule may change due to weather conditions.
