
MEDFORD, Ore. (Feb. 24, 2026) — Police in Medford responded Tuesday to a report of a barricaded and armed individual in west Medford, urging the public to avoid the area while officers work to safely resolve the situation.
The Medford Police Department said officers were on scene near South Columbus Avenue and Prune Street, where they made contact with an individual believed to be armed and barricaded inside a residence.
Authorities said there is probable cause to arrest the person in connection with a domestic violence assault. Additional details about the alleged incident and the individual’s identity were not immediately released.
Specialized units are assisting with the response, police said.
Residents are asked to avoid the area of South Columbus Avenue and Prune Street in west Medford to allow officers to manage the situation. Police have not said whether any evacuations have been ordered or whether there have been injuries.
