
WHITE CITY, Ore. (Feb. 20, 2026)— The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects Friday morning in connection with an armed carjacking reported in Portland after deputies located the stolen vehicle in White City, authorities said.
At 8:46 a.m. on Feb. 20, a Flock License Plate Reader camera alerted deputies to the presence of the stolen vehicle in the White City area. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, leading law enforcement on a pursuit between Antelope Road and Avenue G.
Authorities said the suspect vehicle crashed into two uninvolved vehicles before becoming disabled on Avenue G near Highway 62.
Three people exited the vehicle and fled on foot but were quickly apprehended and taken into custody. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Eagle Point Police Department and the Oregon State Police.
During the pursuit, a sheriff’s patrol vehicle was involved in a minor collision with a school bus from the Eagle Point School District. No injuries were reported. Oregon State Police is investigating that crash.
Deputies arrested Jhaywon Damon Brant, 21, of Beaverton, who authorities identified as the adult driver. He faces charges of attempting to elude police by vehicle, attempting to elude police on foot, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, second-degree criminal mischief, providing false information to a police officer and a detainer for a parole violation.
A juvenile suspect was lodged at the Jackson County Juvenile Detention facility on a felony parole warrant.
The armed carjacking is being investigated by the Portland Police Bureau. Local authorities said their investigation remains ongoing and directed further questions about the Portland case to that agency.
All suspects are believed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
