Oregon, Indiana Secretaries of State Place Friendly Wager Ahead of 2026 Peach Bowl

SALEM, Ore. (Jan. 7, 2026) — With the 2026 Peach Bowl approaching, Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read and Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales have placed a friendly wager ahead of the matchup between the University of Oregon Ducks and the Indiana University Hoosiers.

The Ducks, who enter the game with a 13–1 record, are set to face the undefeated Hoosiers, 14–0, in the New Year’s bowl game in Atlanta.

Under the terms of the wager, if Oregon wins, Morales will send Read a supply of Indiana’s iconic, locally grown popcorn — the state’s official snack. If Indiana prevails, Read will ship Morales some of Oregon’s nationally recognized hazelnuts, the state’s official nut.

“I have one message for Secretary Morales and his Hoosiers: Bring. It. On. From Autzen to Atlanta, our Ducks play with heart, discipline, and pride,” Read said in a statement. “We’re ready for this shot at redemption. I’m looking forward to cheering on another Oregon win and snacking on that famous Indiana popcorn. Sco Ducks.”

Morales, an alumnus of Indiana University, said he is confident in his team’s chances on the national stage.

“As a proud IU alum, I couldn’t be more excited to watch our undefeated Hoosier team take the national stage,” Morales said. “This program has been built one win at a time — through a relentless commitment to excellence. The Peach Bowl will be no different. Oregon’s a great opponent, but I’ll be happy to enjoy some hazelnuts once the Hoosiers handle business.”

The wager adds a lighthearted, cross-country rivalry to one of college football’s marquee postseason games, as both programs prepare to compete under the national spotlight in Atlanta.
