NE Medford Shooting Suspect Released From Hospital, Booked Into Jail

MEDFORD, Ore. (Nov 25, 2025) — The man injured in a Nov. 23 officer-involved shooting in NE Medford has been released from the hospital and booked into the Jackson County Jail, authorities said Monday.

Medford police identified the suspect as Shane Wesley Smith, 30, of Medford, who had been receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the confrontation. After being medically cleared, he was taken into custody.

Smith faces multiple charges, including unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, interference with making a report, attempting to elude police, reckless driving and driving under the influence of intoxicants, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with JCSO are leading the investigation, which will be presented to a Jackson County Grand Jury. Officials said further details will be released by either JCSO or the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office after the case is reviewed.

The investigation remains active, and no additional information is currently available.
