CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. (Nov. 25, 2025) — Authorities have confirmed that human remains recovered earlier this month in the Mount Hood National Forest are those of a Hubbard man who went missing in late October.
The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the remains as 51-year-old Devon Christopher Dobek and determined his death was accidental, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Dobek was first reported missing by friends on Oct. 31, prompting a large-scale, seven-day search and rescue effort near the Fish Creek Trailhead. After the coordinated search was suspended, family members, friends and community volunteers continued looking for him.
They located his body on Nov. 16 at the base of a 400-foot cliff, according to the sheriff’s office.
“Our thoughts are with Devon’s family and friends at this difficult time,” the agency said in a statement.
