Emergency Response Slows Traffic on I-5 Near Gold Hill; Partial Reopening Underway

Gold Hill, Oregon- One southbound lane of Interstate 5 has reopened north of Gold Hill following a closure earlier Thursday caused by what officials described as a “medical event,” according to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).

Emergency responders from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Jackson County Fire District 3, and Mercy Flights remain on scene. The incident initially shut down all southbound lanes near milepost 42, diverting traffic onto OR 99.

ODOT warned that congestion continues in the area and that nearby on-ramps may stay closed until traffic fully clears. Drivers should expect significant delays and are urged to use alternate routes if possible.
