Two Arrested in Klamath County Homicide of Washington Man

Sprague River, Oregon- Two men were arrested Thursday in connection with the death of a Washington state man whose body was discovered earlier this week in a wooded area near Sprague River, authorities said.

The Oregon State Police SWAT team served a search warrant during the early morning hours of Sept. 25 at a rural property in Sprague River, leading to the arrests of Russell Dwayne Carroway, 38, and Devin Tyler Pellerin, 31, both of Sprague River, officials said.

Carroway and Pellerin were charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse. They were booked into the Klamath County Jail.

The investigation began Tuesday, Sept. 23, when a hunter reported finding a deceased person around 3:57 p.m. in a wooded area near Sprague River. Deputies with the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office determined the victim, identified as 47-year-old Robert T. Hein of Bellingham, Washington, had died as a result of homicide.

The Klamath County Major Crime Team, with Oregon State Police as the lead agency, was activated to investigate. The team includes representatives from OSP, the Klamath Falls Police Department, Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Klamath County Community Corrections and the Klamath County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and no additional details have been released.

All suspects are believed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
