Grants Pass, Oregon- A crash involving a load of logs shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 5 Thursday morning, forcing traffic onto alternate routes as crews worked to clear the roadway.
The crash occurred near mile 48, prompting officials to advise drivers to detour onto Rogue River Highway (via I-5 Exit 58 or 55) to continue southbound travel. All southbound lanes were closed as emergency and cleanup crews responded to remove logs that spilled across the interstate.
Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area and expect delays until the roadway can be safely reopened. No immediate information was available on injuries or how long the closure would last.
Medford Alert News will continue to monitor this crash and provide updates as information becomes available.
UPDATE: ODOT reports the southbound lanes have reopened.
