Ashland, Oregon- Investigators with the Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit (MADIU) continue to pursue leads in the murder of Matthew Vandersande, authorities said Friday.
The multi-agency team — made up of members from Ashland Police, Medford Police, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab — has spent the past week canvassing Ashland neighborhoods, interviewing potential witnesses and collecting evidence.
Several search warrants have been executed, yielding what officials described as “items of evidentiary value.” Investigators said additional warrants are expected as the case develops.
Authorities said multiple persons of interest have been identified, but emphasized that evidence continues to indicate there is no general threat to the wider community.
Ashland Police urged anyone with information related to the case to contact the department.
The agency also expressed gratitude to its law enforcement partners for their ongoing support in the investigation.
