Phoenix, Oregon- This week’s Medford Alert News Dog-of-the-Week is Zander, a 5-year-old German Shepherd mix available through Jackson County Animal Services.
Zander is described as curious, observant and confident, with a gentle presence and a strong desire to bond with a forever family. Shelter staff say he has a medium energy level, enjoying daily walks, yard play and neighborhood outings, but is equally content to relax quietly once his exercise needs are met.
The German Shepherd mix already knows basic commands such as “sit” and “shake,” and he walks well on a leash. Animal services staff say continued training will help him become even more confident and well-adjusted in a new home.
While Zander enjoys playful moments with other dogs, he does best as the only pet in a household. Any potential adoptions involving other dogs will require a meet-and-greet to ensure compatibility.
Because Zander has been in the shelter’s care for more than 75 days, his adoption fees have been waived. Licensing fees still apply for Jackson County residents.
