Medford, Oregon– Pacific Power is asking customers to voluntarily reduce electricity use as extreme weather across the region pushes demand on the grid higher than normal.
The utility said Thursday that taking simple steps now can help ease strain on the system and reduce the risk of outages.
Customers are encouraged to shift energy use to off-peak hours — between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. — whenever possible. Pacific Power also recommends limiting the use of heat-producing appliances such as ovens, clothes dryers and dishwashers to the evening or early morning.
Other tips include turning off unused lights, computers and televisions, as well as using fans to circulate air indoors.
More information about energy conservation can be found at PacificPower.net/SummerCooling.
