Josephine County, Oregon- Crews are responding to a wildfire burning along U.S. Route 199 at milepost 16.39 near Hayes Hill, approximately four miles north of Selma, according to officials on Thursday afternoon.
The fire, named the Briggs Valley Fire, is estimated at roughly two acres in size as of 3:45 p.m. Ground crews are actively working to contain the fire, with support from two helicopters providing aerial suppression.
The Oregon Department of Transportation and fire officials are urging drivers to use extreme caution when traveling through the area. Lane closures and travel delays are expected due to ongoing fire operations. Motorists should watch for emergency vehicles and fire personnel along the roadway.
As of this report, no evacuation notices have been issued.
