Medford, Oregon- A wide array of local, state, and federal agencies came together Thursday at Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport for full-scale emergency preparedness exercises required every three years by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The triennial drill simulated a major aviation incident and tested emergency response capabilities across multiple disciplines, including fire suppression, EMS triage, hospital coordination, public safety, and family assistance. The exercises included live fire scenarios and volunteer actors wearing realistic injury makeup to increase training authenticity.
The events emphasized interagency collaboration and hands-on preparedness. The airport’s EMS squad played a significant role, updating triage kits and creating a training video that helped streamline operations across all participating agencies. Their preparations contributed to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the drill.
Authorities say these large-scale exercises are designed to ensure readiness for real-life emergencies and depend heavily on cooperation among regional partners and community volunteers.
