Central Point, Oregon- A man was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly threatening another person with an axe inside a Central Point home, according to police.
Officers from the Central Point Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance around 3:37 p.m. in the 900 block of Laurel Street. The caller reported that a man was menacing another individual inside a residence, swinging an axe and threatening to stab the victim.
When officers arrived, they found the victim outside the home. The suspect, identified as 52-year-old Jedediah Burrell, remained inside and refused to cooperate with authorities, police said.
Officers made several attempts to communicate with Burrell, but he became increasingly uncooperative and eventually stopped communicating altogether. Investigators later discovered a protection order prohibiting Burrell from having contact with the victim at the residence.
A search warrant was obtained and executed. Officers found Burrell inside the home, where he was described as extremely hostile. A Taser was deployed during the arrest, police said.
Burrell was evaluated at the scene by Fire District 3 personnel and then transported to a local hospital for medical clearance. He was later booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of menacing, violation of a release agreement, second-degree disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the community.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
