Grants Pass Man Arrested After Stabbing Mother with Butcher Knife

Grants Pass, Oregon- A 33-year-old man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly stabbing his mother in the back with a butcher knife, according to the Grants Pass Police Department.

At approximately 10:16 a.m., the Grants Pass 9-1-1 Center received a call from a woman reporting that her son had stabbed her and that the knife was still lodged in her body.

Police officers, along with Grants Pass Fire & Rescue and AMR medics, responded quickly to the scene on SW Vicki Lane. Upon arrival, officers arrested Adin Kimball and began rendering aid to the victim, who had a roughly 12-inch butcher knife embedded near her shoulder blade.

Emergency personnel stabilized the woman at the scene before transporting her to Three Rivers Medical Center, where she remained in serious condition.

Detectives with the Grants Pass Police Department are assisting with the investigation. Kimball was booked into the Josephine County Jail on charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
