Medford Police Investigate Shooting Near Hawthorne Park

Medford, Oregon- Medford Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon near the south side of Hawthorne Park.

Authorities responded to the scene around 1:54 p.m. and are currently in the early stages of the investigation. Police have not released the names of those involved. Initial information released by the Medford Police Department stated a suspect was still outstanding. Based on the departments latest update, there is not believed to be any suspects at large.

As a result of the investigation, 8th and Main streets are closed to traffic, with officials warning that the closure may be extended. The public is urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

At this time, we are not looking for anyone involved in this case. A person of interest has been identified and is currently in custody. This investigation continues and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
