Lost Creek Lake Boater Arrested for Boating Under the Influence

Near Trail, Oregon- Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies arrested a 55-year-old man at Lost Creek Lake Tuesday evening for boating under the influence of intoxicants (BUII) and recklessly endangering.

At 6:08 p.m., ECSO Dispatch received a report of a boat speeding recklessly near shore with a man and four teenagers onboard. Deputies responded to the scene, contacted the boater, and observed multiple indicators of impairment.

After conducting standardized field sobriety tests, deputies arrested the man for BUII and four counts of recklessly endangering.

Although the incident ended safely, JCSO noted that alcohol use is the leading known contributing factor in recreational boating fatalities. The agency emphasized its priority to take immediate action to remove impaired boaters who pose a risk to themselves or others.
