Josephine County, Oregon- A Cave Junction man died Friday morning in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Highway 199 in Josephine County, according to Oregon State Police.
Authorities said the crash occurred around 9:08 a.m. near milepost 35. A preliminary investigation found that a southbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by 37-year-old William Robert Murphy, crossed into the northbound lane, entered a roadside pullout, and veered off the improved roadway. The motorcycle continued into a ditch and struck a tree.
Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was affected for about an hour as emergency crews conducted their on-scene investigation.
Oregon State Police were assisted by the Illinois Valley Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
