DUII Crash in South Medford Leads to Serious Injuries and Arrest

Medford, Oregon- A suspected DUII crash early this morning resulted in serious injuries and led to the arrest of a local man.

At approximately 1:44 a.m., Medford Police and Medford Fire personnel responded to a crash at the intersection of Stewart Avenue and Maple Grove Drive. Upon arrival, authorities found a vehicle with three occupants.

A male passenger suffered serious leg injuries and required extraction from the vehicle. He is expected to be transported to Portland for further medical treatment. A female passenger sustained what are believed to be minor injuries.

Due to the severity of the crash, the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team was activated to assist in the investigation.

The driver, identified as 29-year-old Alberto Perez De Gaona, was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of Assault in the Second Degree, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), two counts of Reckless Endangering, and Reckless Driving.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
