Klamath County, Oregon- Oregon State Police (OSP) responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 near milepost 176 at 8:46 a.m. on Monday.
According to the preliminary investigation, a northbound Buick LeSabre, driven by Leif Taylor Celusta, 34, of Crescent, lost control, crossed into the southbound lane, and collided with a Kenworth commercial motor vehicle and trailer. The Kenworth was operated by Robert Emil Mewes, 58, of Madras.
Celusta was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mewes was reportedly uninjured.
Authorities closed the highway for approximately two hours during the investigation. Speed and roadway conditions are being considered as primary factors in the crash.
OSP was assisted by Crescent Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).
