Medford, Oregon- Kohl’s Corporation will close 27 stores on Saturday, March 29, as part of a broader restructuring effort aimed at improving business performance. The company announced the closures in January, identifying some of the affected locations as underperforming.
The closures are part of a larger transformation strategy that includes reducing the company’s corporate workforce by 10% and ending Amazon returns in certain stores.
Kohl’s also plans to shut down its e-commerce fulfillment center in San Bernardino, California, in May. The facility, which has been operating since 2010, is being closed as part of the company’s cost-cutting and efficiency measures.
Following these changes, Kohl’s will continue to operate more than 1,100 stores nationwide. The Medford store at Rogue Valley Mall will remain open, while Portland’s only Kohl’s location is scheduled to close.
Kohl’s has framed the restructuring as necessary to streamline operations and improve financial performance amid a challenging retail environment.
