Lincoln County, Oregon- The body of Dane Paulsen, who had been missing since March 1, 2025, was found Tuesday morning in the Siletz River. Paulsen was discovered at approximately 11:13 a.m., about three miles downstream from his family’s property. He was found deceased.

The discovery follows an extensive search and investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, with support from community volunteers.

Juan Heredia of Angels Recovery Dive Team had offered his services to Paulsen’s family. After coordinating with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Heredia was escorted onto the river by a local river guide and began searching areas downstream from where sheriff’s office divers had previously focused their efforts.

Sheriff’s office investigators are processing the scene. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Lincoln County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the circumstances of Paulsen’s death. No additional details have been released as the investigation is ongoing.

Sheriff Adam Shanks extended his condolences to the family. “Our thoughts are with the family, who are facing an unbearable sorrow,” Shanks said. “We are deeply grateful for the support and dedication shown by the search teams and our communities throughout this difficult time, though we wish it was under different circumstances.”

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office expressed its sympathies to Paulsen’s family and loved ones, stating that the loss is felt throughout the community.

Paulsen’s family has been notified. Out of respect for their privacy, the public and media are asked to give the family space and time to grieve.
