Pedestrian Killed in Early Morning Crash on Blackwell Road

Central Point, Oregon- On Friday, March 7, 2025, at 6:04 a.m., the Oregon State Police (OSP) responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in Jackson County.

According to the preliminary investigation, a white Nissan Frontier pickup truck, driven by Jerid William Gunter, 47, of Medford, was traveling eastbound on Highway 140 near Blackwell Road when it struck a pedestrian. The crash occurred in a non-lit section of the roadway.

The pedestrian, identified as Naomi Hope Gomez, 39, of Glendale, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway was closed for approximately two hours while authorities conducted an investigation.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
