Oregon Teen Found Dead; Mother and Her Boyfriend Arrested

Lake County, Oregon- Oregon State Police, in collaboration with the Lake County Major Crimes Team, is leading an investigation into a homicide in Lakeview following the discovery of a deceased juvenile during a court-ordered welfare check.

On Tuesday, February 18, at approximately 3:44 p.m., the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police assisted the Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Welfare in serving a court-ordered protection order. The order was issued for a 17-year-old juvenile reportedly residing at a home on the 300 block of South G Street in Lakeview.

Upon entering the residence, law enforcement detained the juvenile’s mother, Amanda Edwards, 38, and her boyfriend, Nathaniel Cullins, 31. During a subsequent search of the property, officers located the juvenile deceased.

The Lake County Major Crimes Team, which includes the Lake County District Attorney’s Office, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and Oregon State Police, was activated to investigate the circumstances surrounding the juvenile’s death. Oregon State Police have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Both Edwards and Cullins were taken into custody and lodged at the Lake County Jail. They face the following charges:

Amanda Edwards:

• Criminally Negligent Homicide

• Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree

• Abuse of a Corpse in the Second Degree

• Tampering with Physical Evidence

Nathaniel Cullins:

• Criminally Negligent Homicide

• Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree

• Abuse of a Corpse in the Second Degree

• Tampering with Physical Evidence

• Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Oregon State Police Southern Command Center at 541-883-5711, referencing Case #SP25-054507.

At this time, authorities say no further details are available for released.
