City of Medford Urges Residents to Delay Travel Due to Icy Road Conditions

Medford Ice

Medford, Oregon– Hazardous road conditions continue throughout Medford as icy weather grips the region. Local officials are urging residents to stay home unless travel is absolutely necessary. For those who must be on the roads, authorities advise drivers to reduce speed, allow extra stopping distance, and use extreme caution. Current forecasts indicate that conditions are unlikely to improve until temperatures rise.

City officials say Public Works crews have been working around the clock to plow and sand roads. Efforts are focused primarily on clearing and maintaining major thoroughfares, with work on residential streets occurring as conditions permit.

A portion of Spring Street between Modoc and Gardendale remains reduced to a single lane due to communication lines obstructing the roadway. Authorities are advising drivers to avoid the area if possible.

In response to the hazardous conditions, all City of Medford facilities delayed their opening until 10 a.m. today.

City officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of keeping roads clear for emergency responders and road crews.

“Thank you for your patience and for helping keep roads safe for emergency responders and road crews. Stay safe,” a city spokesperson said.

Updates will continue to be provided as the situation develops.
