Freezing Fog Advisory Issued for Greater Medford Region

Freezing Fog Oregon

Medford, Oregon- The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Freezing Fog Advisory for Medford and surrounding areas, effective until 12:00 PM PST on Saturday, January 18. This advisory impacts Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, and Jackson County.

According to the NWS, visibility may be reduced to one-quarter mile or less in affected areas due to dense freezing fog. The advisory highlights potential safety concerns, including hazardous driving conditions and icy surfaces on roads and sidewalks.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution. Reduced visibility will require slower speeds and increased stopping distances. Icy roads may develop, further complicating travel. Pedestrians are also advised to be mindful of slippery sidewalks.

To mitigate risks, the NWS recommends using headlights while driving, maintaining a safe following distance, and reducing speeds.

Local authorities encourage residents to monitor weather updates and plan accordingly. For more information on weather alerts and road conditions, visit weather.gov.
