Medford, Oregon- Mercy Flights and the Illinois Valley Fire District (IVFD) are working together to develop a dedicated rehabilitation unit for firefighters and first responders. The project involves repurposing an ambulance donated to the fire district by Mercy Flights.
The unit is designed to provide support during demanding operations, helping firefighters recover physically and mentally on-site.
It will also be available for regional use, extending its services to assist first responders outside of the Illinois Valley Fire District when needed.
Organizers remark the initiative reflects a coordinated effort to enhance resources for emergency responders and improve their capacity to manage intense situations effectively. The development and deployment of the unit are currently in progress.
