Medford, Oregon– Alaska Airlines has announced a new route connecting Medford, Oregon (MFR) and San Diego, California (SAN), scheduled to begin in May 2025. This addition aims to enhance accessibility between Southern Oregon and Southern California, while reinforcing the airline’s commitment to Medford and the surrounding region.
The new service will feature convenient flight times designed to suit travelers’ schedules. Departures from San Diego will take place in the late morning, allowing passengers a relaxed start to their journey. Mid-afternoon departures from Medford will provide travelers ample time to enjoy the day before heading to San Diego.
This new route marks Alaska Airlines’ continued investment in Medford and the broader Southern Oregon community. In addition to the Medford-San Diego service, the airline will increase its Portland-Medford flights from one daily trip to four, further strengthening regional connectivity.
For San Diego, this new route will serve as the 41st destination offered by Alaska Airlines from SAN, granting Southern Californians greater access to the outdoor, culinary, and cultural experiences Southern Oregon has to offer.
Officials say the addition of this route underscores Alaska Airlines’ strategic efforts to meet the growing travel demand while providing more options for both leisure and business travelers.
Currently, Allegiant Air is the only other option for direct flights between Medford and San Diego. Allegiant Air offers the MFR-SAN route seasonally.
