Ashland, Oregon-On Monday, December 9, 2024, at approximately 5:49 PM, Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) alerted Ashland Police Department (APD) officers to 911 reports of gunfire and threatening statements in the 40-block of Alida Street. Callers indicated that a male individual had fired shots within an apartment complex and made homicidal statements.
Officers arrived at the scene at 5:54 PM. As they approached the complex, the suspect fired additional shots before retreating inside. APD officers requested backup, including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.
Shortly after, two additional shots were heard from within the apartment, followed by a 911 call from a woman inside. She informed dispatchers that she had been shot. Officers initiated a rescue operation, during which the suspect exited the apartment, making suicidal and homicidal statements while challenging officers to shoot him. When the suspect refused commands, officers deployed a Taser, successfully subduing him.
As the suspect was taken into custody, officers entered the apartment to provide medical assistance to the injured woman, who had sustained two gunshot wounds. She was transported by Ashland Fire & Rescue to Rogue Regional Medical Center, where she remains in stable condition.
The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Cory A. Davison of Ashland, was booked into Jackson County Jail on the following charges:
• Attempted Murder in the Second Degree
• Assault in the Second Degree – Domestic Violence
• Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Domestic Violence
The Ashland Police Department was supported by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office, Ashland Fire & Rescue, and the Oregon State Police Crime Lab.
