Advisories Issued for Rogue Valley Due to Dense Fog and Strong Winds

Medford, Oregon- The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory and a Wind Advisory for the Rogue Valley, encompassing Jacksonville, Rogue River, Gold Hill, Medford, Ashland, and Shady Cove.

The Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM on Sunday, November 24, while the Wind Advisory will last until 8 PM this evening.

Conditions and Hazards

Dense Fog Advisory: Visibility is expected to drop to a quarter mile or less in many areas. Drivers may encounter hazardous travel conditions due to significantly reduced visibility.

Wind Advisory: Southeast winds of 25 to 35 mph are forecast, with gusts potentially reaching up to 45 mph. The strong winds may lead to the movement of unsecured objects, fallen tree limbs, and isolated power outages.

Affected Areas

The advisories apply specifically to the Rogue Valley in Jackson County, including urban areas such as Medford and Ashland.

Residents and travelers in the region are urged to take precautions:

For Dense Fog: Motorists should reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance from other vehicles.

For High Winds: Caution is advised for drivers, particularly those operating high-profile vehicles. Residents should secure loose items outdoors to prevent them from being blown away.

The National Weather Service emphasizes that these conditions can pose risks to both transportation and infrastructure.
