Central Point, Oregon- Oregon State Police (OSP) responded to a fatal two-vehicle collision on Sunday, November 10, at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Highway 99 at Ellen Avenue in Jackson County. According to OSP’s preliminary investigation, a Ford Windstar, driven by Timothy J. Hunt, 72, of Medford, attempted to make a southbound turn onto Highway 99 from Ellen Avenue. The vehicle was then struck by a northbound Toyota Camry driven by Brian I. Paramo Zizumbo, 26, also of Medford.
A passenger in the Ford, Brian R. Foreman, 76, of Central Point, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Hunt, and an additional passenger, Jeanette I. Cox, 85, of Medford, sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Paramo Zizumbo, the driver of the Toyota, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The crash impacted traffic on Highway 99 for approximately four hours as investigators worked on-site. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Multiple agencies assisted with the response, including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Central Point Police Department, Jackson County Fire District 3, and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).
OSP’s Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is handling the investigation. The CRU specializes in investigating serious and fatal motor vehicle collisions on Oregon highways. This unit provides expert documentation and analysis of complex crash scenes, using advanced technology such as unmanned aircraft systems for detailed scene mapping.
