Two Central Point Shootings Result in One Fatality and One Injury

Central Point, Oregon- On the morning of November 8, 2024, Central Point Police responded to two separate shooting incidents, resulting in the death of one individual and serious injuries to another. Authorities have a suspect in custody and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

At approximately 7:26 a.m., police received a call reporting a gunshot victim in the 300 block of South 4th Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 42-year-old male deceased inside a residence. Just minutes later, at 7:31 a.m., officers were alerted to a second shooting in the 500 block of Bush Street, about four blocks from the initial scene.

At the Bush Street location, officers found a female victim in a vehicle. Emergency medical responders from Fire District 3 and Mercy Flights attended to her injuries on the scene. The victim, suffering from life-threatening injuries, was then transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

Shortly after 8:00 a.m., officers from multiple agencies, including the Medford Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and Oregon State Police, located and apprehended the suspected shooter on foot in the 1000 block of North 5th Street.

Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect had a known relationship with the deceased male victim, while no known connection has been identified between the suspect and the injured female victim.

The Jackson County Major Assault and Death Investigation Unit is aiding Central Point detectives in the investigation, with forensic assistance provided by the Oregon State Police Forensic Unit.

Authorities have not released the names of the individuals involved as the investigation remains ongoing.
