
Ashland, Oregon- The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced a closure of the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 at milepost 9, approximately six miles south of Ashland. The closure, currently in effect, is due to a vehicle fire on the roadway.
ODOT has advised drivers to expect significant delays in the area and to consider postponing travel plans until the scene is cleared. Crews are working to address the situation, but there is no estimated time for reopening the southbound lanes.
Medford Alert is working to gather additional information at this time.
8:35p UPDATE: Southbound Interstate 5 has reopened at milepost 9, 6 miles south of Ashland, following a vehicle fire. Traffic is limited to one lane until the vehicles are removed.
Final UPDATE: All lanes are now open.
