Medford City Council Launches High School Art Contest to Celebrate Community

Medford, Oregon- The Medford City Council has announced an art contest focused on the theme “Community,” inviting high school students across Medford to creatively depict civic engagement or symbols of the city. The contest, designed to foster youth expression and civic pride, is open to students currently enrolled in high school within the city.

Submissions for the contest will be accepted from October 21 through November 22, with the winning entries to be selected by mid-December. Winning artists will each receive a $1,000 cash scholarship, and their works will be displayed prominently at City Hall.

Contest Guidelines

Theme: “Community,” encouraging representations of civic engagement or Medford-related themes.

Eligibility: Open to all high school students in Medford.

Requirements: Artwork must be suitable for digital rendering and printable in a 24×36 poster format. Color use is encouraged.

Submission Limit: Only one entry per artist.

Licensing: By submitting, participants grant the City a limited license to use images of the artwork for promotional purposes without additional compensation.

This initiative is funded by the Council Community Initiative Fund, supported through local and state marijuana tax revenues. The Medford City Council uses these funds for community-oriented projects aligned with the Council’s Biennial Goals.
