Pedestrian Dies After Collision with Semi-Truck on Highway 97

Klamath County, Oregon- At 9:33 a.m. on Thursday, Oregon State Police (OSP) responded to a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Highway 97, near milepost 272 in Klamath County.

According to a preliminary investigation, a southbound Freightliner truck, operated by Usman Ahmad, 36, of Sacramento, California, struck a pedestrian who had entered the lane of travel. The pedestrian, identified as Christian Lee Cleven Corwin, 38, of Klamath Falls, was pronounced dead at the scene. Ahmad, the driver of the Freightliner, was unharmed.

The incident caused the temporary closure of the highway for approximately one hour while OSP conducted an on-scene investigation.

Assistance was provided by Klamath County Fire District 1, the Klamath Falls Police Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).

Further details on the circumstances of the pedestrian’s actions are under investigation by authorities.
