Medford, Oregon- South Medford High School is mourning the unexpected passing of a sophomore student, who was an active member of the school’s cheer squad and involved in several community groups. The student passed away last night, and the school administration has informed families, urging them to provide support to their children as the community copes with this loss.
In response to the tragic news, the district has mobilized its crisis response team to provide emotional and mental health support to students, staff, and families. The district has also enlisted additional trained mental health professionals to be present on campus for any student in need of counseling or support. According to the school, these professionals will remain available for as long as necessary to ensure the well-being of the student body.
In addition to the on-site resources, the district has recommended Winter Spring, a local center specializing in grief and loss, as a valuable support system for anyone in need.
