Rogue River, Oregon- Starting October 1, Valley of the Rogue State Park will implement new seasonal hours for its day-use area. The park, which is situated at milepost 45B along Interstate 5, will open daily at 8 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. These hours will adjust throughout the season based on available daylight.
Park staff will lock the gates at 7 p.m. and reopen them at 8 a.m. Visitors are reminded that as of fall 2023, the park no longer operates as a 24-hour rest area. Overnight parking is prohibited in the day-use area, and restrooms will not be accessible when the area is closed.
For truck drivers, it is important to note that there is no space within the day-use area to turn around once the gates are closed.
While the day-use area offers limited access, the park’s campground remains open for those with reservations. The campground features 175 campsites, including full hook-up sites, tent sites, group sites, and yurts. Facilities such as showers and other overnight amenities are reserved for registered campers only.
The day-use area itself provides a variety of recreational opportunities, including two restrooms, an off-leash dog area, access to the Rogue River Greenway Trail, a boat launch, picnic tables, and interpretive displays focused on the Applegate Trail and wood carving.
Signage at the park will be updated regularly to reflect any changes to the operating hours.
