Illinois Valley, Oregon- At approximately 5:21 PM on Monday, emergency services responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 2200 block of Holland Loop Road after receiving a 9-1-1 call reporting a vehicle collision with a power pole. The caller stated that one occupant was trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
Upon arrival, emergency crews found the vehicle on its roof with one occupant still trapped inside and another occupant ejected from the vehicle. A nearby power pole had been completely severed at its base, causing power lines to hang precariously in surrounding trees.
Illinois Valley Fire Department personnel extricated the trapped occupant, while both individuals involved in the crash were transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford for treatment. One was airlifted via Mercy Flights helicopter, and the other was transported by AMR Ambulance. Both were reported in stable condition, according to hospital staff.
Witnesses at the scene stated that the vehicle had passed another car in a no-passing zone at a high rate of speed before losing control on a curve and crashing into the power pole. Authorities have confirmed that the crash is under investigation.
Further details regarding the identities of the occupants and the extent of their injuries have not been released. The cause of the crash remains under review by law enforcement.
