Late Night Vehicle Crash Kills Central Point Pedestrian

Central Point, Oregon– A fatal pedestrian crash occurred last night in rural Central Point, resulting in the death of a local resident. The Jackson County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team is currently investigating the incident.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported that emergency services were alerted at 11:30 PM on August 10, after a call to 911 reported that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the 400 block of Wilson Road, located just outside Central Point. JCSO deputies, Jackson County Fire District 3 personnel, and Mercy Flights medics responded to the scene. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at approximately 11:44 PM.

The deceased has been identified as Omar Salas Ibarra, 35, of Central Point. Authorities notified Ibarra’s next of kin on-site.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred when a woman driving a black 1998 Honda Civic eastbound on Wilson Road struck Ibarra as he attempted to cross the street. At this time, no criminal charges have been filed against the driver. The case remains under investigation, and no further information has been released.

The Central Point Police Department Medical Examiner and JCSO detectives are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have extended their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. No additional information is available at this time.
