ODF Firefighters Combat New Wildfire Near Lost Creek Lake

Lost Creek Lake, Oregon– Firefighters from the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) are currently engaged in an aggressive initial attack on an estimated three-acre fire located directly west of Lost Creek Lake. The fire is burning in a steep and remote area, necessitating a one-mile hike for firefighters to reach the site.

Due to the challenging terrain, a Type 1 helicopter has been ordered to assist with the firefighting efforts. Additionally, the district’s Type 2 and Type 3 helicopters have been deployed and are actively working on the incident. To manage the aerial operations, an air attack plane has also been ordered.

Additional ground resources are en route to support the firefighting efforts. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
