Salt Creek Fire Containment Rises to 24%, Firefighting Operations Continue

Near Eagle Point, Oregon- Containment efforts on the Salt Creek Fire have made significant progress, with containment now reaching 24%, an increase from Thursday’s report. Firefighters have been diligently conducting mop-up operations to secure and strengthen the fireline.

Overnight, the fire breached a small section of the line on the southwest corner of the incident. However, firefighters quickly contained the breach, limiting the spread to an estimated two acres. This morning, resources are focused on mopping up and securing the affected area. There is still potential for flare-ups within the fire perimeter due to unburned vegetation, and firefighters are closely monitoring for any increased fire activity or spot fires.

Today, 750 personnel are assigned to the incident for Friday’s day shift. The team includes 27 crews, 19 engines, nine bulldozers, 12 water tenders, and eight tree fallers. Safety concerns, particularly regarding snags or hazard trees that are at risk of falling, remain a priority. Tree fallers will be working throughout the day to remove these hazards as firefighters continue mop-up operations.
