Fireworks Believed to be Source of Evening NW Medford Fire

Medford, Oregon- Last night, June 28th, Medford Fire and Jackson County Fire District 3 crews responded to a reported structure fire at an apartment complex on the 2000 block of Howard Avenue. Upon arrival, crews found a large shrub and grass on fire, which was threatening a nearby house.

Engine 14 crews quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to any structures. The fire appeared to be related to fireworks, as witnesses reported hearing and seeing fireworks in the area prior to the incident.

Residents are reminded that legal consumer fireworks can only be used in designated areas of Medford from July 1st to 6th. The penalty for using illegal fireworks is $2,500.
