Salem, Oregon- In the early hours of Sunday, June 23, 2024, Marion County law enforcement responded to a violent incident in the 5500 Block of Skyline Rd SE, Salem. Shortly before 1:00 a.m., deputies were dispatched following a 911 call reporting a juvenile had been shot.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures on the 16-year-old male victim. Despite their efforts, the juvenile was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased will not be released due to his age.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office identified David Ayon-Urbano, 18, of Salem, as the suspect. Ayon-Urbano has been arrested and charged with Murder in the Second Degree, among other charges. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday, June 24, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the Marion County Court Annex.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the Salem Police Department for their assistance and commended the diligent work of the detectives involved in the investigation.
