Medford Fire Department Extinguishes Eastside Dumpster Fire

Medford, Oregon- Yesterday afternoon, the Medford Fire Department (MFD) responded to reports of a debris dumpster ablaze in a resident’s driveway on Grandview Avenue in east Medford. The incident, which occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 6th, prompted an upgraded response to a structure fire due to the dumpster’s close proximity to the house.

MFD crews, arriving in under four minutes, effectively extinguished the fire before it could spread to the nearby residence. Minor damage to the garage door was noted, caused by radiant heat from the fire.

Following investigation, authorities determined the fire to be accidental, attributed to improperly discarded smoking materials. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

The prompt and efficient response from MFD averted potential disaster, underscoring the importance of quick action in emergency situations. Residents are reminded to exercise caution when disposing of flammable materials to prevent similar incidents in the future.
