Medford, Oregon- Roxy Ann Lanes, a staple in the south Medford area for half a century, has announced its closure. Despite decades of bowling service and cherished memories created within its walls, the iconic establishment has reached the end of its journey.
Company officials remarked that the decision to shutter Roxy Ann Lanes was not taken lightly. Structural issues with the barrel roof above the lanes have rendered the bowling alley portion of the building untenable. Despite efforts by the management and staff, the financial realities of the necessary repairs proved insurmountable.
However, there is a glimmer of hope amidst the closure. The renovated portion of the building, housing the Open Frame Bar & Grill, remains structurally sound and will continue operations to serve the community. While the loss of the bowling alley is mourned, the continuation of the bar and grill offers a nod to the enduring legacy of Roxy Ann Lanes.
The closure marks the end of an era for families, friends, and bowling enthusiasts who have frequented the establishment over the years. The management expresses gratitude to the loyal patrons, hardworking staff, and supportive community members who have been part of Roxy Ann Lanes’ story.
Roxy Ann management also stated that the closure was not related to a longtime plan (pending federal approval) to turn the center into a tribal casino.
