Grants Pass, Oregon– Multiple fire agencies from across the Rogue Valley are set to engage in a comprehensive wildland fire training exercise in Merlin, Oregon, spanning from May 28th to May 30th, 2024. Hosted by Grants Pass Fire and Rural Metro Fire, the event will occur in the Acorn Street area and on non-city property at the end of Ort Lane.
The significance of this training cannot be understated, as it plays a vital role in preparing firefighters to effectively tackle real-world wildland fire emergencies. Participants will engage in various exercises, including fire line construction, hose deployment, live fire evolutions, and enhancing communication protocols.
Residents in the vicinity may observe a minor amount of smoke during the live fire training exercises. To ensure the safety and control of the training, fire engines and firefighters will be present throughout the duration of the exercises.
Engines and firefighting personnel will be strategically stationed in the area to promptly respond to any unforeseen situations, guaranteeing a swift and coordinated approach to managing the training scenario.
