Next Phase of “Mega-Corridor” Construction to Close Major Section

Medford, Oregon– Motorists in east Medford should prepare for potential delays next week as a significant road closure is scheduled to take place on Foothill Road from E. McAndrews to Hillcrest. The closure, set for Thursday, April 4, is part of ongoing preparations by contractors ahead of paving work scheduled for the following week.

The temporary closure will affect the stretch of Foothill Road from E. McAndrews to Hillcrest, including the Hillcrest/N. Phoenix intersection. Specifically, contractors will be focusing on paving the E. McAndrews on and off ramps during this period.

While both on and off ramps will be closed on April 4th, E. McAndrews Road itself will remain accessible to traffic. However, drivers are advised to plan alternate routes and anticipate up to 20-minute delays in the area. Detours will be available via Springbrook Road to help mitigate traffic congestion.

As part of the broader $62 million Foothill Road project (dubbed the “Mega-Corridor”), funded in part by a $15 million Federal Build Grant received by Medford, these construction efforts aim to enhance Foothill Road from Delta Waters Road south to Hillcrest Road. Upon completion at the end of 2026, the current two-lane road will be transformed into a major four-lane thoroughfare, complete with turn lanes, sidewalks, bike lanes, and street lighting.

In addition to the impending closure, motorists should also be aware of lane shifts on Hillcrest Road and heightened traffic control measures at the Hillcrest/N. Phoenix intersection. Project updates and the current construction schedule, though subject to change, can be accessed at FoothillRoadProject.org.
